Terms of Use
Last Updated: 6/18/2026
Welcome to the Books for Change website (the “Site”), operated by Books for Change (“Books for Change,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a Loudoun County, Virginia-based organization of educators advocating for gun reform through community book sales. By accessing or using this Site, purchasing a ticket, making a donation, or placing an order through our shop, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Who We Are
Books for Change is an initiative founded by educators to raise funds for organizations working to end gun violence in schools and communities, including organizations such as Everytown for Gun Safety and Sandy Hook Promise, through community book sales, merchandise, and donations.
2. Use of the Site
You agree to use this Site only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe on the rights of others or restrict their use of the Site. You may not:
Use the Site in any way that violates applicable local, state, or federal law
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its systems
Use automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Site without our permission
Interfere with or disrupt the security or proper functioning of the Site
3. Tickets, Vouchers, and Book Sales
Tickets to our book sale events are sold in the form of a donation. As of this writing, a $15 donation is valid for two book vouchers, with each voucher redeemable for one gently used book of your choice during the event.
Vouchers are valid only during the specific event for which they were purchased and expire at the end of that event.
All ticket sales and donations are final. No refunds will be given.
Book genres and inventory vary by event and are not guaranteed.
We accept cash, card, and Venmo as forms of payment at our in-person events. Online ticket purchases are processed through our third-party payment processor Square.
4. Shop Purchases
We sell limited merchandise, including Books for Change tote bags, through our online shop. Items purchased online for in-person pickup (such as tote bags) are available for pickup during posted book sale hours only, unless otherwise noted. We reserve the right to limit quantities, correct pricing errors, and update product availability at any time.
5. Donations
Donations made through the Site, whether in connection with a ticket purchase or as a standalone gift, support our mission and are directed toward funding organizations working to end gun violence in schools and communities. [Insert nonprofit/tax status information here — for example, whether Books for Change is a registered 501(c)(3), is fiscally sponsored, or operates independently, and whether donations are tax-deductible. This affects what we can legally claim and should be confirmed before publishing.]
6. Book and Item Donations
We welcome donations of gently used books for future sales. If you are interested in donating books, please contact Courtney at [email protected] to coordinate drop-off or pickup. We reserve the right to decline donated items that do not meet our quality or content guidelines.
7. No Professional Advice
Content on this Site is provided for general informational purposes related to our mission and events. It is not intended as legal, financial, or policy advice regarding gun reform legislation or advocacy.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Books for Change is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, attendance at our events, or purchase of goods or vouchers, including but not limited to issues with third-party payment processing.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
